Colors in Thai

The word for color is “see” and you often use it before saying the name of the object. For example, yellow is “see lueang” and it’s like saying “color yellow.”

You can also specify if your color is “light” or “dark” by adding one word at the end of the phrase. If you want to say that it is a light color, add the word “aorn.” If you want to say that it is a dark color, add the word “gae.” For example, dark pink is “see chhompoo gae.”

Colors are a good thing to know why shopping in Thailand because they you can ask if they have that item in a different color. Just ask the vendor, “Mee see ali?” to find out the colors he has or ask for a specific color “Mee see daeng mai?” (Do you have it in red?)
