Top 10 Helpful Phrases in Thailand

For your stay in Thailand, you could use some simply phrases to help make your stay in Thailand go a little easier. One thing to know about Thai is that you can add a “krub” if you are a man or a “kaa” if you are a woman at the end of what you say to be polite. For example, “khorb khun ka” instead of just “khorb khun.”

1. Hello (sa-wad-dee) – this means both “hello” and “goodbye”

2. Thank you (khorb khun)

3. How much? (tow lai)

4. Where is…? (… yoo tee nai)

5. I don’t want (mai ow)

6. Sorry (khor toad)

7. Numbers (neung, song, saam, see, har, hok, jed, paed, gao, sib)

8. Can you make it cheaper? (lot noi dai mai) – or just say “discount”

9. Delicious (aroi)

10. Never mind (mai ben rai)
